Gretsch has a great product. A lot of value for your money. Versatile, quiet and very retro sounding. Can get a very 60's jazz vibe with stock heads or 70's rock sound with head change. Nice and quiet, dry sustain, almost birch but with a more retro vibe. The stain finish and graining look like a more expensive kit. The light retro styled hardware makes it easy to carry for a gigging drummer. I highly recommend. I have been playing for over 40 years in many styles and settings, this set is a keeper. Wish they had add on toms for versatility but I understand that is what keeps the price down.

Rims are cheap, really cheap. Dull, dented and bent. Shells are from a wood that looks nothing like mahogany. Sound is just ok, after many tries at different tunings. I would go with Yamaha Stage Customs or Tama or spend $300 more and get some Pork Pie Hip Pigs!!

I’ve been playing Gretsch Drums since the 70’s. These little kits sound and look amazing. Completely retro. For under 700 bucks, you can’t go wrong! If you can grab a kit for under 500, I suggest you grab them.
