Fantastic ! Recommended for everyone !

Gilligan's Island first came out when I was a child. I liked it then very much ! Now I'm 55 years older, and it takes me back to a better place and time. There are no clean shows on TV now, all our children see is trash. I shared Gilligan's Island with my daughter, and she loved it ! She had never seen it before, and that's a shame. Hollywood has gone to the dogs now. We have all really enjoyed the DVD set a lot, thank you !!!

  • Skipper!!

Although Gilligan's Island got off to a slow start, it built up momentum as more and more ideas came to mind. The first season is like a playing field, trying to find the audiences funny button. By using Bob Denver as the bumbling first mate and a surprise performance by Alan Hale (best known for his more serious roles), they have made this a comedy sensation that kept their audience coming back every week to find out how Gilligan foiled another way off the island. The lost episode, or the one never seen before shows how well Mary Ann's (Dawn Wells) role changed dramatically after the first show. Gingers character was replaced along with the professor which in my opinion turned out for the better. Lovey and Mr. Money bags have always enlightened good humor while playing a rich tycoon with ...

  • Gilligan's Island First Season...Just Sit Right Back

Did you know in the original Gilligan's Island Pilot that Ginger, Maryann and the Professor are different people? Mary-Ann's name is Bunny and her character is more like the current Ginger. Ginger is more like Mary-Ann but still called Ginger. The Professor is very much a ladies man. Since the episode never aired, the show was drastically altered, characters were replaced and so was the now, unforgettable theme song. Heck sometimes in the morning when I wake up I even sing the theme song because it's stuck in my head! :) Episode 1: "Two on a Raft" Episode 2: "Home Sweet Hut" Episode 3: "Voodoo Something to Me" Episode 4: "Goodnight Sweet Skipper" Episode 5: "Wrongway Feldman" Episode 6: "President Gilligan" Episode 7: "The Sound of Quacking" Episode 8: "Goodbye Island" Episode 9: "The Big ...

  • Childhood memories..on Gilligan's Island

I felt like I was just getting out of grade school and watching afternoon TV all over again. I am not old enough too have viewed Gilligan's Island on it's first run, but boy did I watch it in reruns. This set is great. The first season, being in black & white, was not as highly syndicated as seasons 2 and 3. Many of these episodes I had never seen before and some I had seen in their colorized versions on TBS. I was glad they chose to release the set in it's original black and white. The overall picture quality is very good for 40 plus year old footage. I was also impressed with the remastered audio. Warner did a good job on the audio and although it is in mono, it sounds excellent. There are also some great extras on this set. Sherwood Schwartz, the creator, had a different vision ...

  • Gilligans Island First Season DVD Set

I love Gilligans Island and i wanted to own all 3 of the seasons. This one was the last one i added to my collection. Although i love Gilligans Island a lot this season was my least favorite (sadly). I dont know if its because of the black and white or if its because the characters werent "seasoned" enough at this point, it just wasnt the "Gilligans Island" i remembered as a kid. They spent a lot of time at the shore in these episodes which is different from the other seasons and honestly i dont remember a lot of the episodes on this disc. Not to say they werent enjoyable to watch...they were but it just wasnt the same as the other 2 seasons ( 2 & 3 ). I was born in 1970 so maybe someone who was born earlier would favor these episodes over the others...perhaps its all just in "what you ...
