Garrett AT Gold
The Garrett AT Gold is an excellent detector for .2 gram and larger gold prospecting, for relic hunting and for coin and jewelry hunting. It is easy to operate and has enough features to make it be capable of satisfying many levels of detecting expertise. Being fully waterproof and well built, it can handle underwater and rugged terrain conditions. Since it transmits at 18 kHz and does not have special salt ground balancing compensation, it is not recommended for salt water or wet salt beach operation. It is a bit heavy with a larger coil but using one will get more depth than the AT Pro. The stock 5X8.5" coil is perfect for it however and gets plenty of depth and coverage. Some people do not like the more digital sounding tones on the AT Gold and AT Max compared to the more doorbell like tones on the AT Pro. I personally think the two non-ferrous tones sound great and give me plenty of information. For small target hunting, for areas that need lots of target separation and for going after deep targets with a larger coil, the AT Gold will do very well.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

First of all I wasn’t that impressed. Of course I’m still trying to find the ideal setting for where I hunt. I have used many detectors and this one does have good depth and sensitivity. A little better than a 20 year old Garrett GTA 1000 I have and use on a regular basis. The water proof design is a nice feature. Nice detector
I like this detector, but since I'm new at this I find it a little tricky to use properly. Garrett states that it'll take 100 hours to really start getting comfortable with it, and I believe it. I also find it starts to feel heavy after a while, so maybe it could be balanced better. I haven't found much with it yet, so if you're new at this you may want to plan where you're going to use it in advance. I've used mine at some local parks, and I only wish bottle caps were valuable. Other than that I've found a few coins, but nothing really valuable. The pointer will save you a lot of time once you dig a target. It's a must have.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Garrett AT Gold. Great metal detector.
Have a Garrett GTI 1500, GTI 2500 and now the AT Gold. This is my go to detector now. It is so much lighter than the older GTI detectors. Can swing it for hours. Love the Iron Audio button and 40 levels of discrimination. Got a good price on it. Turn it on and started swinging at a river camping area.Found lots of clad coins and the usual trash. Got to dig it all when learning the machine. I use Disc 1 the most, so far so good on my learning curve. Great machine. Also, nice being water proof when detecting around and in lakes and streams. If you can afford it, this is what you need.
You know I have read a ton of reviews, watched dozens of videos and talked to many experienced treasure hunters and this is what 95% of all of them said to get. And within the first few hours of using it on a beach in Florida, i found a couple bucks in change, various bottlecaps, tent stakes, a copper toe ring and trash that I am amazed it even sensed from some of the depths it picked stuff up from. I could not be happier with this purchase and plan on using it every chance I get. Pics are from the first day of using it...
