    Great product, find a great deal on it first!

    I love having the capability of having a radar system behind me on my bike to show me cars approaching behind me. I feel like this product is over priced in general, but winning one on eBay for cheaper is DEFINITELY the way to go. Garmin did a great job on this product. The compatibility with various bike computers is awesome. I like how it adjusts its flash capabilities depending on how close a car is approaching. I recommend this to anyone looking for a safer and well informed ride using technology.

    chicken little "the sky is falling". Too many false alarms.

    Detects all approaching metal objects within 7 lanes to either side. Fairly useless for warning that you are about to be run over from the rear. Too many warnings about vehicles 130' away, on another roadway. Even 90 degrees away cross traffic vehicles set it off. Does have a nice bright flashing red light which is rechargable with a micro-usb port. Light battery lasts 4 hours or more. Rain resistant.

    Adds as much safety as a helmet. Maybe more.

    This technology is great. No more looking over my shoulder looking for oncoming cars. The radar connected perfectly to my Garmin 520 speedometer where it produces a beep when a car is coming from behind. It also shows a dot on the screen for every car showing it’s approach, and a color for speed. It makes it easy to decide when to get over, and when it’s safe to pull out into the lane.

    Safety First

    The Garmin Varia May seem a bit expensive for a bicycle tail light, and, initially I thought it was gimmicky. However, the safety factor of having at least some idea of what is coming up behind you is immeasurable. First off, the quality of the light and mounting bits is very good. There is an option for both round and aero seat posts included and both are very secure and easy to use. Pairing the Varia was similar to any other Garmin sensor—super-easy with my Edge 520. The performance is pretty flawless, as I have ridden around 200 miles and not once did it not alert me to vehicle behind me. Furthermore, it does not confuse cyclists for automobiles. It beeps, flashes, and gives a graphic on your computer as to the proximity of the vehicle approaching from behind and goes green when the ...

    Pricey Peace of Mind

    This a great light to give peace of mind to riding on the roads. Paired with a small mirror it works wonderfully to give you eyes in the back of your head. It even works really well in group rides letting me detect cars that even my mirror can't see. A great benefit when rotating out of a pace line. The only down sides are cost and getting information overload when doing urban riding.
