These overpriced GPS Units are not Super when compared to the current level of Similar Technologies of cell phones, etc. I would never rate any of the hand-held GPS units as Excellent because the Ease-of-Use or User-Experience with them is still far behind the these modern times in this current electronic age. THE PROS: Great Screen Resolution compared to others hand held GPS units. Good Visibility of the Screen. Touch Screen is Reasonably Good. The design & size of the unit will fit nicely in your hand. THE CONS: Importing (jpg) Maps is VERY DIFFICULT. You need to purchase additional Software to import the maps. The Accuracy of the GPS unit is always around 15-30 feet. Not so Great. (My Nuvi 760 Car GPS Unit is significantly more accurate.) Touch Screen sensitivity is not current for current touch screen technology. This unit is Too Expensive for the services it provides. The US Topo Maps pails to the Western States more detailed Topo Maps. The Base Map included is really of little value... plan on having to by Topo Maps. I am really surprised at the demand there is for this type of GPS toy and what a Lack of Technology there is in these units for the price you pay. SUMMARY: If you are a Scout Master responsible for not getting boys lost on a high adventure outing, this type of devise is a necessity. If you are an electronic buff, this is a trinket you may want to wait for newer versions in the next year or two. I suspect in the near future, your phone will provide all these GPS services for you with significantly greater User-Interface-Experience whether or not you are near a Cell Tower.Read full review
It was easy to use. I'm not sure of it's accuracy, I have some questions about that. Make sure you carry a compass, because if heavy rain clouds come up from the south the GPS will not work. The rest of the time it works great. I bought this product to measure acres, so I could send in a report to tax accessior. It works alot better then the old GPS I have. It's easier to set way points with this GPS and it works slick measuring acres. It operates alot faster then my old GPS.
Many features and functions. All work well, Some difficulty id locking in to satellites but having re-located from 700 miles to the south, it is easily explained. It possesses a bright screen and maintains battery strength for more than 12 hours of constant use.

although Garmin has discontinued this model GPS, it is a great easy to operate device, a handy size and can be expanded via SD card for more memory or preploaded maps

I have only been using my 450 for a couple weeks but so far i like it. the touch screen is pretty responsive and the resolution is good. i have only put 1 set of aa batteries in it and they are still full so battery life looks to be excellent. i have put some free topo maps on it which technically would make it a 450T now. My biggest test for electronic devices is to hand them to a freind and say make it navigate, everyone i have handed this device to has been able to start navigation to a predetermined point in under 2 minutes. Good Excellent Battery life Easy to use Easy to add maps Bad nothing bad besides the price and i wish the screen were about 1 inch bigger
