I purchased this phone 3 months ago. It has remarkable battery life, a large screen for a tracfone, and more features than most tracfones. Watch out for the browser button. I have lost a couple of minutes by accidentally pressing it. Blocking phone numbers on the reject list requires a little research, as the owners manual doesn't explain how to do it. I also had to research how to delete multiple inbox and sent messages. It is a good phone, and well worth the small price. You can't go wrong with LG products anyway. Update: I had to toss this phone, as the camera wouldn't function correctly, and it made all other functions on the phone freeze up unless I went through a shutdown and battery removal. After a while this got annoying enough to dispose of the phone. I am ordering another one however, since I like the phone's features and ease of texting. Here's to hoping the camera on the new one works. I lowered the score on this phone, since the camera issue is something that should never happen before the phone is 5 years old. I ordered another one of these phones and all functions appear to work well. It is probably one of the most multi-functional tracfones, and the price was certainly right. I'll bump my score up 1 star because this one, (my second) actually works well.Read full review
♦I bought the LG 500G used to replace a very old Tracfone model, and I couldn't have dealt with a better, more helpful seller. ♦The phone itself is lightweight. It will take some time to finagle around the menus and discover it's capabilities, as it does not come with a physical manual. However, even a little bit of experience with cellphones will help you get this one figured out soon enough. ♦The camera is 1.3MP, but it's not terrible, and it has a few options to play around with, like a Timer, Color Effects and the ability to mute the Shutter sound. ♦The QWERTY keys are small, but my son (with his big hands) says it's not as difficult to type as he originally assumed. ♦The most reported issue, is that the [Browser] button on the home screen, is also the [Back] button in any other screen, so it is very easy to hit that [Back] button one too many times and be connected to the internet. That immediately deducts from your minutes, and I do believe this was intentional on the part of Tracfone to milk you of your money/minutes. Just press the buttons slowly, and you should be fine. Wish there was a "password lock" option for the Internet Browser. ♦This phone is secure! You can set the option to lock after only a few seconds. It is easy to unlock afterwards. No more butt-dialing. ♦It has options! Silent, Meeting, etc... and two custom profiles you can set for sounds and ringtones. It also has a slot for a 4GB MICRO SD card. You will need a USB cord (sold separately) to connect to your PC and load music. ♦Your signal depends on your area. Our service was almost always non-existent in my town, but it has gotten better over the past few months. ♦The absolute worst and frustrating issue is Tracfone Inc. If you're lucky, you will be able to activate your phone online or through another landline or cellular. If you ever have to talk to a robot/service rep (ie, with tech issues or to transfer an old number), be prepared to be frustrated, and to have a good chunk of your personal time taken away. They are VERY polite, however, it takes them forever to respond to simple issues, and they are repetitious. By the 7th time you've repeated your tech issue, sim number, or serial number, or have been put on hold, you might be ready to give up and switch carriers altogether. BUT, if it's any consolation, you will only have to deal with/call a Tracfone rep once. ♦Overall, this Phone is a 4, and Service is a 2, which averages out to a rating of 3 from me. For the $5 (lucky ME!) and 2 hours I spent for this used phone, it is worth it.Read full review
I really like having a QWERTY board on this phone however the keys are so small you need a stylus. I think I would enjoy a case for the phone that closed over the front of phone so that you don't inadvertently hit a key, such as the BROWSER and use a large portion of you minutes without knowing it. I've not found the On Speaker feature yet. This is a pretty neat phone for the price. I'm not attached to a phone all day, just use it when I really need it and it is very good for this. It has Blue Tooth and I've hooked that up and it works great.
I purchased this phone as a replacement for my lost handset and I really must say that for the price, this phone is absoloutely great. the keyboards buttons are a little small but that's the only complaint that I have. The MP3 app is actually pretty cool and it also comes with many other useful features. I must say that if you are looking for a value priced prepaid handset that looks cool, sounds cool, has a full qwerty keyboard, lasts for fove days on one charge, gets excellent reception, and costs less than twenty bucks then this is the phone for ypu
This phone is decent for calls and texts..and limited internet usuage. It tends to disconnect you from the internet browsing session if the page has has a lot of pictures or information on it...thats kind of frustrating. And I used to be able to connect to facebook as an app rather than thru browser but something changed and I can no longer get the download to go thru..It always says there is some .jar file missing...
