I've always been an ASUS MB person so I was very weary of changing manufacturers. But after reading all the reviews and seeing what this board had that the best ASUS didn't, well, there was no question as to which board to us. I was building the fastest AMD computer possible and this was the board I used. When all the hand selected parts finally arrived and I put Colossus together, it was the fastest computer, at least for 2 weeks, lol. Apparently the rumors I'd heard of the 6 core AMD chips were off by about 4-6 months! But that's the beauty of this motherboard! It's already set up and ready for AMD 6 core chips! All I have to do is buy the fastest 6 core chip available and once again I have the fastest one available. At least until they build the next fastest processor chip, lol. It also has USB 3.0 installed and SATA 3.0 and 6.0 with plenty of each to handle a lot of drives. It's also set up and compatible for Crossfire-X video cards for you video demanding gamers. The BIOS is easy to use and set your preferences and so far it's worked like a champ. The price is also very affordable and I think it's much lower with what you are getting than compared to other AM3 ready mb's and what they offer for the price. Thrown in 8GB or more of XMD low-cass ram and a dual fan cooling tower on top of the ram and you've got a sweet little machine. Another change I made was going from NVidia to Radeon using a Gigabyte 5770 Vapor-X 1GB video card already set up and compatible for the Crossfire-X capability. With 2 PCI-E slots, one a PCI-E 16 and the other a PCI-E 8, you are ready to do some serious gaming video. So far the video is great with the one card but will put the second in soon. I also recommend a large power supply for this type of computer and mb. I went with a 750 watt that had both PCI-E 8 and PCI-E 6 card power connections. This gives me all the power I'll need when I add the 2nd card and any other drives. It also has over 2oz. of copper for advanced cooling and is visually appealing. There are many others good things but you can read more about it at the Gigabyte website as I'm not an expert, just an end user who's very happy with his decision. Good luck with your new computer and I hope you are as happy with yours as I am with mine.Read full review
Working as it is a direct replacement for the previous MB. Had to change the date and the CMOS battery was dead but those were to be expected.
