I expected this 'tell-all' book to drop famous names, but I was stunned by the sheer number of celebrities the author met and uh... did business with... from the 1940s and even up to the 1980s. And no, the author didn't have sex with them all--he just had fascinating stories to tell about his adventures with many stars in the golden Hollywood days. The text is undeniably readable and intriguing, and the tone is unabashedly candid and what I would call rather modest. Even the personal history he includes is interesting and serves the purpose of explaining how he arrived at his place in the secret history of Hollywood. I won't spoil the fun by listing any of the many names who played a part in his stories, but even though I expected certain ones to pop up, I was unprepared for how many are in the book and by the numerous 'surprise' names I wasn't expecting. This book is lots of fun whether you believe it's all true or not. It doesn't really matter. It's just such a treat to get absorbed in Scotty Bowers' reminiscences! If you like old Hollywood gossip... here's your book! The author's photos included are a nice bonus.Read full review

I believe material within this book has been edited. Within a documentary featuring the writer, mention was made of Bette Davis, including pics of Merle Oberon and Deborah Carr, Ava Gardner and Lana Turner. None of these characters besides a brief mention of Lana Turner was mentioned.

Most of the stars he mentions are before my time. That is of course irrelevant, but many who are in his age bracket will know who he`s talking about. Its a bit odd that according to him, 99.9% of Hollywood stars & its writers/directors/set decorators, etc. Were all either gay or bisexual. It gets a bit boring towards the latter part of the book as it comes across as the words of a braggart & the stories are the same. Star wants sex, calls Scotty, Scotty provides. Everyone who was anyone was his "good friend". Sadly, they`re all dead now. So no one can call him a liar at this point. Must be pretty devastating to their families though. I dont doubt that there are many Hollywood stars today who are gay/bi-sexual. Some have a very hard job hiding it, they are so campy. Scotty, interesting book. Think you should have left out some things like William Holden`s "accidents". That was too personal! PS. I am a Londoner, so any discrepancy in terminology or spelling in this review is not a mistake. Its me using real English!Read full review
I saw Scotty Bowers on TV. He told of his actual experiences while he was a Service Station attendant back in the 1940's. He sounded very interesting, so I purchased the Book immediately from eBay. The book is supposedly the actual exploits Bowers had with Hollywood actors, directors, writers, etc. He trafficked in finding boys and/or girls for these prominent Hollywood people as well as the many many experiences he personally had. They are all mentioned by name - and actual preference towards sex. There are quite a few surprises in the book about your favorite old time actors and actresses. The most surprising of which is....Katherine Hepburn was a Lesbian and didn't even have a sexual relationship with Spencer Tracey. This blew my mind as this was supposedly the oldest love story to ever come out of Hollywood. The book is very explicit in explaining the sometimes exacting demands of the actors and actresses. This book sometimes got overly explicit about sex. Overall, after sometimes glancing through the explicit sex sections, I enjoyed the book tremendously. If you like old-time Hollywood, you will enjoy hearing about the actors and actress you thought you knew.Read full review
Whether or not there is an ounce of truth in the book, it is a fun read. For sheer silliness, you can't beat it. However, do yourself a favor and buy a used copy online.
