I was specifically searching for this OEM kit, it also included all of the related terminals if needed and if any wire may be short or damaged it could be taken care of correctly with the correct butt splices and insulating sleeve. The relay retaining clip was also provided, (it is spring steel). It is well known that the industry has been reluctant to provide good info and OEM parts directly to the public, this has been an exception. I had to search deeply and have the experience to spot the fakes. The compressor is made by one company and is used in many brands of appliances.

This is a factory replacement part, but the two halves of the relay do not stay snapped together tightly, leaving a small gap between them. You can pull them apart slightly, and shake it to hear a light rattling noise. When squeezed together and shaken, no noise. This new relay was intermittently not working after just one day, causing compressor to buzz and not start up. I took it out and taped the two halves tightly together, and since then has worked flawlessly. That is until the tape stretches and it happens again. I imagine exchanging it would just give me another poorly made relay, not to mention a non-working fridge while I wait.

I needed this because the back of our fridge started smoking. It ended up being a shorted relay assembly. You get this and an updated connector. I feel some electrical experience is needed to replace this part. The repair itself is easy. You cut your old wires, install heat shrink, install new wires and connector with crimps. Then after you heat shrink the crimps place the assembly back into position. The difficult part I ran into is the wires on the fridge were red and black, while the updated connector with wires were both white. I used an ohm meter to test the wire connections to the new relay and compared it to my old relay find out which white wire connected to red or black. After everything was connected and in place I plugged it in and the fridge worked again with no burning smell or smoke. This part has been installed for a month and still works. It sure beat buying a new fridge.Read full review
