My main beef with this guitar is that Fenders compensated brass saddle design is crap. There wasn't enough compensation on the D and G strings to get the intonation even close. It was way off no matter what. Next the strings slip all over on the saddles. The strings sit right next to the height adjuster screws. As you bend notes the string moves on the saddle. So between bad intonation and strings moving it was a real disappointment. Eventually I bought some "Gotoh" Brass Saddles on ebay and they worked really well as they are slotted. On the D and G strings, I still had to file a little into the slots in either direction to get the intonation dead on but thanks to the really nice grooves, that was a breeze. I am disappointed that Fender would come up with such crappy quality saddles on a 1500$ guitar. It made it just miserable to play. I played one of these in a store and liked the sound. I thought I liked the Deep C neck. Over time I realized that I did not. I own 2 other telecasters and eventually I risked modifying the neck and sanded the profile more toward a C shape. I was able to spray Verathane satin finish on the masked off back of the neck and it blended right in. I am actually not so sure I like the tall frets either..... So, moral of the story is to spend a LOT of time at the store and make sure that you really like the neck and frets. Now it plays really nicely with the regular C profile. I felt limited and my hand didn't stretch out naturally with the deep C. The pick ups sound great. It has a really nice in phase sound and the bridge pick up is distinct and not piercing. The guitar looks slicker than deer guts slung on a door knob. Just be sure you like the neck before you buy! and plan on buying new saddles................Read full review
