This DVD with 2 programs is an excellent value for the price. They broke down each programs into chapters for DVD, so you can cue up to the chapter you want without fastforwarding (VHS days...). "Tough Tape 2" (IMO, this could have been titled, "Not So Tough Tape", it certainly isn't as hard as the first "Tough Tape".) is only 49 minutes of compiled excercises from the FIRM's many other titles. It gives you a variety of instructors (as well as different backdrops) for each segment. Even though it is a compilation program, it does not have the "choppy" feeling as much, as seen in some of their other compilation programs. The transitions (in editing) are pretty cleanly and smoothly done. The look of the program might seem dated, but the workout itself is solid. By customizing the size of the weights you use, you can go from beginner to advanced. This is my regular "short and easy day" workout. I bought it as a part of 2 DVD pack that came with another DVD that had "Upper Body/ Standing Legs". This one is used far more often. The "5 Day Abs" is yet another compilation program taken from the original FIRM classic total body workout series that came out in late 80's to early 90's (Volumes 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6). The look in this program is even more dated (heavy makeup on instructors and French cut leotard with tights and jazz oxfords for shoes -- although they all look so beautiful), but the routines are very nice and compact. In 6 to 9 minutes (depending on the day segment you choose), you can work your abs fairly thoroughly. Any "day" segment of this program is a good way to round up your other FIRM programs that don't have abdominal segment. Of course, you could just do this program as a stand alone workout. And for the hardcore exerciser, doing all 5 days in one session gives you a tough abdominal workout. There is also a bonus segment on this DVD where they give you the review of some of the basic weight moves and explain how (and how not to) do some exercises. I would recomment that if you're new to the FIRM, you start by watching this portion first.Read full review
This is the deal of the century. My husband and I have been using the VHS version of the 5-Day abs for years, with excellent results. Now we purchased DVD version (our VHS being worn out), which comes with Tough Tape 2. It is a great combination of workouts, and great value for your money. First, about 5-Day Abs. This is the compilation of 5 different abs work (6-9 minutes each)from previously released Firm workout videos. It is not particularly hard, but this thing gets you going. It is short, so you WILL do it. Tough Tape 2 is also compilation of the old Firm videos, but it works as well. Despite the name, it is not THAT tough, it is just right.. for intermediate exercisers. They use a lot of exercise equipments, but you can do them without equipments. I like the exercise, relatively short, gets you to sweat and feel great afterwards. I take this DVD everywhere I go--vacation, business trips. I think this is one of the best value you can get. Highly recommended.Read full review
These 2 workouts are brilliantly paired-up to give people of all fitness levels an awesome workout! The Tough Tape 2 Workout is very easy to follow and a little tough, but results can be seen extremely fast. It's a great sequel to Tough Tape 2-if you don't have copies handy- hurry up and get them!! The 5 Day Abs workout is again, easy to follow and the instructors from the Firm Classics Workouts make working on those abs more endurable! The Firm delivers as promised and I am proof!! Since working out with my growing collection of Firm videos, I've gone down from 268lbs to 220lbs in less than 2 months time!!!
I love this DVD. I had used the 5 day abs vhs tape previously and this is the same. Yes the music and workout outfits are dated, but who cares. All I care about is getting results in the easiest way possible. It is just what is it says 5 different 5-9 minute ab workouts. I do one each morning Monday-Friday. I can work it into my morning and I definitely see results. Some reviewers have said that they can't skip to the day they want and have to fast forward through the other work outs. I do not have this problem the menu allows you to choose between the tough tape 2 and the 5 day abs. When you choose five day abs then it lets you choose to play the whole thing or choose the scene. If you choose scene selection then it lets you choose which days ab work out you want to play. It is very simple.Read full review
I have used both 5 Day Abs and Tough Tape 2 since they were newly released on VHS. They were staples in my workout routine. Since my VCR broke a year ago, I have really missed them. Love the DVDs! They are even better than VHS because you can quickly cue up exactly which workout you want and get started, without having to fast-forward. Routines are short, but powerful! Beginners can do them as well -- I certainly was a novice when I started. I am really pleased to be able to feel my stomach muscles again!
