Initially I was a little uncertain about the condition of the lens but after testing it this weekend it came in with great results. Happy with purchase

I got this as a second chance offer that I almost didn't go for. I am glad I reconsidered. It is well constructed, all metal and glass. The images are true and sharp. The copy I got looks better in person than on line. Focus is fast and does well in most situations. One of nice features of this lens was the "macro" ability for close focusing. As one of the early autofocus lenses it is good lens at a reasonable price ($45.00) that is made to last. This zoom range has been in Nikons stable for awhile because it is versatile. I look forward to many years of using this lens. I'd buy one again if it broke.

This is good all around lens, not a great all around lens. It is not very fast, but it has a great range 35-105mm. Good Day, outdoor lens, because it's light and compact. Good portrait lens, as long as you control the lighting and use a tripod. Not great for event indoors, with unpredictable light and hand held. Overall a good lens for the right price and sercomstance.
Originally bought to serve as primary lens on a full frame FX DSLR, but have been using it temporarily with a DX (D7000) model. Despite being a older style autofocus lens, I am very impressed with it's relative compact size, zoom range, macro capability, and optical sharpness. While usage requires a little bit more "twiddling" ( i.e. macro and manual-auto switching ) which may not appeal to casual users, overall I would rate this lens is an exceptional value.
