When I was a child I loved watching Doris Day movies. The only ones that my mother had, though, were ones that had been recorded off the television, and weren't very good quality. When I saw that this collection of DVD's was being sold, brand new, I couldn't resist, and I was very happy that I got them. I like the movies very much, and I was pleased with the movies provided in the collection. I paid about $80 for the set, and while I had hoped to pay less, I am still content with my purchase.
I bought this Doris Day Collection of movies because I believed it offers a varied collection of her movies. Love Me Or Leave Me is one of my favorites because it shows her dramatic talent as well as her singing talent. Glass Bottom Boat shows her comedic talent. Anyone who is a Doris Day fan should get this collection. I believe she is one of the most underrated actress of all time. She was the best female vocalist of the 40's and 50's as well as the top box office star of the 50's and 60's. She could do comedy and drama. And it can all be seen in this collection spanning from 1949 with Young Man With A Horn to 1966 The Glass Bottom Boat.
I wanted it for my sisters because my father was a bandleader in Cincinnati and Doris Day sang for him.She was 17 and her name was Kappelhoff(sp). She auditioned with him and sang Day by Day. He made her change her name to Day for it would be easier for a stage name. She refers to my dad in all her books because he was the first band she had ever sang with and he gave her the name of Doris Day. We still keep in touch with her and I am very proud of the story..My dad was Barney Rapp.....My mom was also very famous and she stopped singing because she was starting to have a family and wanted to stay home and raise her children. Doris took her place and thats why she is who she is, because of my dad...
I was a kid when I was introduced to Doris Day and fell in love with her beautiful voice, the songs, and the styles. Also after watching these I fell in love with them and her all over again.The memories of watching these with my mom. She has since passed away but when watching these ;she is here watching them with me. Thank you.
