Upgraded my system after taking the plunge into 4K TV. This Denon has all the flexibility I need for my basement theatre needs. It has the current audio/video switching equipment and meets all the current standards. I currently run a 5.1 system and will be adding Atmos speakers soon. The on screen setup process was easy to navigate. The Audyssey speaker setup was a bit cumbersome but the results proved it worthwhile. The spacial sound was much improved from my prior setup, using my existing Boston speakers.

Awesome unit, been using this unit for a few weeks now, paired it with some new Sony cone series speakers, the sound quality is excellent, many sound options, love the microphone feature for setting up the speakers for the surround sound, love the auto feature for the sound fields that automatically switches the sound format the channel/device that is being inputted, very expandable 7.2 system, highly recommend this unit.

I bought this to use as my home theater receiver and it works very good. Just using it for HT is overkill but it has features that I can expand on if need. I did not give five stars be because I got stuck on a setting and could not back out of it. I had to go online to get out of the setting.

Replaced home theater with the Denon AVR-X2400H having Heos compatibility thinking the added advantage of being Heos compatible would help solve a long standing problem of not being able to run wires in my room layout to surround back speakers by pairing the Heos compatible AVR unit with 2 Heos wireless speakers. Discovered the Denon AVR-X2400H can only bluetooth stream music (from iPhone or iPad for example) to the Heos speakers! You can not assign Heos speakers as surround elements using the surround signals generated by the AVR in a home theater 7.1 configuration. The only way to put Heos speakers in a surround sound system is to buy a completely different Denon Heos AVR (see the naming confusion here?). Less confusing marketing slogans/naming would have avoided the frustration and clarified the actual capability of the Denon AVR-X2400H receiver. Lesson learned the hard way but the AVR is a fine unit other than this.Read full review
