This receiver is a "straight wire with gain". It has EXTREMELY LOW distortion within it's modest 110W/Channel rating. I use it mainly as a pre-amp/control center to drive a Phase Linear DRS 900 and Haffler XL 280 in a bi-amp configuration. The receiver power amps do not have enough "punch" to drive my Polk Signature Reference Series SDA 1.2TL systems, which need 200Watts to just warm up. The receiver has EXCELLENT (Japanese) build quality, NO Chinese caps , only Nichicons/ Elnas used. The remote leaves a lot to be desired; DOES NOT need a "touch screen" and the multi function keys could be replaced with individual buttons for each function. If I don't use the receiver for about a month,I have to re-learn how to use the remote! These receivers are probably THE LAST GOOD receivers from Denon since Denon is now owned by the Chinese and their products are manufactured in China or Malaysia. CHEERS!Read full review

Phenomenal sound and huge flexibility. A bit dated in features, but a great value for the power and sound quality.

I have used Denon previously and this one upgraded my system. I was using 7.1 before as this one is. Yes, there is a lot of features inside this black box, and it just doesn't plug and play. Even with the experience of going through setup once before, you can expect to spend at least three days getting it all together. In the end, it is well worth it. Would definitely buy another.
Beautiful and is what I wanted. It is a great addition to my collection

the power behind this receiver is fantastic. it only has two hdmi ports, not quite enough for most. overall, this is an excellent product.
