I found it to be a little underpowered on the low setting but on high, it worked quite well on tall grass that has seeded out. I got almost an hour and a half out of a 5ah XR battery. My only complaint isnt with the bare tool itself but the horrible way the string was wound on the spool. I had to manually feel the line by taking the cap off, pushing the line back far enough to unwrap a round from the spool the cut the excess. I'll rewind it or just by another spool. But the 20v brushless trimmer did not disappoint. With the 5AH battery the trimmer wasnt as heavy as a gas trimmer and the only thing that felt warm after the battery was dead was the battery and not the head or the back were the battery attaches. Only thing that they could have put on the trimmer was a mount for a sling though. An hour of holding it and I was getting fatigue.Read full review

This string trimmer works alright on light work, but gets gummed up on heavier grass and is VERY difficult to clean. After spending 1 1/2 hours clearing some tall grass it was totally gummed up (would not turn). I spent the next two hours disassembling the head and using a tweezers and needle nose pliers to pull the grass out of the space between the base of the shaft and the top of the gear box. Not a lot of fun. Needs a better design.

Great string trimmer for a battery type, you can pretty much cut anything on low and the high is very close to a gas model. A 6amp hr. battery went about the same area coverage as a tank of fuel in my gas model, but a lot less weight. The line feed works perfect never had to refill it yet so I cant say how that goes, I think its a really nice string trimmer but only time will tell. I'm a Dewalt fan so I hope its as good as their other 20v. tools I have a lot of them.

Pros- Adequate for light to medium trimming and uses Dewalt 20 volt Max batteries (already had other tools that use same batteries). Lighter weight, easier starting and not as noisy or smelly as my gas trimmer. Cons- As expected don't have power of bigger trimers.

I’ve only used it once so faults may not have had time to show up. I went electric after having so many weed eaters became hard to start after long term use. I’m not going to jerk around and tweak on a weed eater for 20 minutes trying to get it to run every time I go to use it. Having a battery operated model solves all of the problems that come with using gas. No oil mixing, etc. I was surprised with the power of this model. I’ve owned electric before and it didn’t have much power. This can handle typical yard work. The first ran the new batteries I bought down sooner than I would have expected, but I had read batteries need a few charges before they reach maximum capacity so I wasn’t really surprised. Using this product was a pleasant experience. Just pop the battery in and press the button and go. All you hear is the swirl of the weed eater string. I recommend this product at first use, but I’d also read other reviews of long term ownership. I did before buying and some owners claimed early failure on certain parts. I’m willing to take the chance for the convenience and the unit isn’t extremely expensive to replace if if does fail. Batteries and the charger can run into money, but I also bought a reciprocating saw that will share the same batteries. I think I’ll buy other items as well so that universal battery use will come in handy later.Read full review
