Another cute 80's movie for the whole family.
Very cute 80's movie. I loved it when I was a kid and now my daughter loves it too. It's a cute story about a family who's left alone for the summer when their mom decides to visit Australia alone. The old woman who babysits them dies and the older sister gets a job to take care of her sisters and brothers. Very cute movie.

This is a cute movie about a single mom who decides to take that once in a lifetime trip, to Australia. She has a house full of kids, Sue Ellen is the oldest at 17. Her brother Kenny, is a pot smoking, lazy, bum about 16, and the other boy and girl are about 12 & 10. Mom has hired a babysitter for the summer. She is an old woman who is grouchy as an old NAZI. The summer is ruined! But the old woman abruptly drops dead. They take her to a nursing home and drop her off, then remember that all of the money their mother left was in her purse. Now they are totally broke and there is no other money or food. Sue Ellen has to get a job. So she fills out an application along with a BS resume and gets hired as an executive. Of course this is all preposterous, but great fun. The whole summer is ... This is a cute movie about a single mom who decides to take that once in a lifetime trip, to Australia. Hilarious and classic comedy movie! Christina Applegate shines in this her first leading movie role that she filmed right after being famous from the Married With Children TV show success. This movie gives the great stoner line of "Dishes are done, man." I definitely recommend Don't Tell Mom The Babysitters Dead!
