Works great with directv
Works great but keep in mind that more than likely directv will provide a certain numbers of receivers free. In my choice programming package I receive one dvr and one wireless genie free. I have two additional genies that I'm charged $7.00 a month each. I did not have to purchase any of these receivers. I bought this to add directv to a seldom used tv in another area in my house. The directv system has limitations to the number of active receivers being used (in my case one dvr and three genies). By going in to setup I am able to switch one of my other wireless receivers to this new one on the seldom used tv by entering the setup menu on my main dvr receiver and obtaining a code to activate the receiver by deactivating one of the others. Better than disconnecting cables from the wireless receiver from one tv and hooking the wires up temporarily to the other tv. Although there's a few steps to make it work, it does make it easier to swap tvs that use my maximum 3 wireless receiver allocation. Keep in mind that you will be charged by directv for additional receivers that are active and by just purchasing this genie, you cannot avoid the $7.00 additional receiver monthly charge.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I received the genie quickly and was able to install the product right away. DIRECTV has to activate the unit on my account but there was no charge for the activation itself. Good value
Of course, DirecTV is gonna add $7/mo. to your bill. Good new tho: You won't have to pay the $150+ to add one on by buying through them; or have to haggle/renegotiate your contract. Just as good of quality as the rest of the clients I have. If you were even slightly paying attention to your installer when you had you satellite installed, the process of adding a client is painless. DirecTV losing Recordings Fix
You got to have a wireless Video Bridge for it to work. Also you register your receiver with DirecTV before it will work. On your wireless video bridge .I would get DirecTV Router and you must connect you coax cable to it. Now we Have whole DVR model HR54 kept losing my recorded programs. You record something and wanted to watch next day The program would be gone. Example Programs like judge Judy, Steve Wilkos, and Racheal Ray all would be gone but on the smaller genie box in bed room programs would be there. Also Battle Bots record that program and that would be gone also. Now since I have this smaller wireless Gene my programs are there. We just block off the main DVR and just watch programs on the Genie box. No trouble so far. I hope this will help you with your DVR problems on DirecTV. Now I don't work for DirecTV and never have. But do like to tinker with electronics and that was my fix for with my DVR equipment. My picture quality is perfect and so the sound.. No problems so far .Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

DirecTV is tops
This provides access to DirecTV from a single satellite dish at remote locations around the house. With as many as nine Genies in operation everyone can watch their favorite show. Quick and easy setup of equipment. DirecTV rep.not so much.
This wireless genie is very easy to connect and setup with existing genie server, just make sure when you contact DirecTV to activate the equipment on your account that you get an agent that has the ability to activate new equipment and not "Ed" in Soitheast Asia, like I was directed to initially last night. After an hour and a half on the phone with "Ed", only to have him tell me I had to pay for professional installer to come out connect equipment and activate the client.
