I bought this because I had a 12v Dewalt that died. So I already had a charger and 2 batteries. The old 12v Dewalt drill/drivers are very low priced compared to newer technology or higher power drills. I have completed several woodwork projects including a deck and new subfloor replacement. So since I am not a pro-contractor, the 12v does well. I can drive 2-4 inch wood screws with no problem. I may have to charge more often, but that is not an issue for me.
I bought this drill as a replacement for essentially the same item (slightly different model). I'd had the old one for almost 14 years, and don't know how long the previous owner had had it. The clutch finally gave out, because I use d it for EVERYTHING! I've built my whole toolkit around DeWalt 12 and 18 volt tools: dependable, not too heavy, and they consistently do the job. I've built my whole small farm up from empty pasture--40X60 pole barn with tack room, wash stall, and oversize foaling stalls; almost 2 miles of wire mesh fencing with wood top rail (extension cords definitely don't work for this!); etc. I will be adding an impact wrench this spring, for the garage shop I will be building on my own.
I have used Dewalt tools for some time and find them to be dependable and parts and accessories are readily available. This is my second 12 volt drill so that I always have one handy. The 12 volt model is lighter and smaller than the more powerful ones. Good tool, does the job well.
Received drill 2 days before estimated time. Works great
