Great product. Easy to fill. I love these and use them in all my acoustics. They do need to be shaken a bit. I do it over the sink to remove excess water. This avoids any possibility that it will drip. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not five is that the sponge dries out very quickly. It’s not a big deal if you have 1 or 2 instruments. However, when you have stock, it’s labor intensive. I think better quality, more moisture holding sponge material would make this a solid 10! It’s easy to replace the existing sponges. I’ve tried a lot of case humidifiers, these are still the best. They are also very affordable and don’t mold.

Cellulose sponge is too small to carry enough of water. When it is below 10% relative humidity, you need 2 to 3 of these in the sound hole to maintain 45 % RH. Even inside the case, you still need 2 of this to maintain 48% RH. And you need to kept it water every 5 days or some time it will drop to 40%RH. But temporarily using a larger wet sponge inside the ziploc and carefully cut a few holes will maintain for month.

I live in the desert. So keeping my guitars humidity at the right level is critical. This humidifier works great. It's easy to use. And unlike the cheap knock-off products, you can actually remove or replace the sponge. I think this is critical. Knowing how much water is absorbed in the sponge is very important. And because you can open it up and remove the sponge, you can get just the right amount of water in the sponge. It's a great buy. And I highly reccomend this to anybody that needs a guitar humidifier.

I like planet waves products, but this guitar humidifier didn't perform well. It was installed and the guitar was put in a case for a week It did not humidify the guitar at all. I bought a room humidifier and that worked very well. Arch in the lower bout came back and the hump at the 14th fret is almost gone.I haven't tried any other sound hole humidifiers so I cant rate them.

This little device is a very economical and easy way to keep your instrument hydrated in a dry environment. It can prevent drying of the wood which can produce cracking and permanent damage/loss of value to your instrument. Anyone living in an area of low humidity would be well advised to keep one of these in the sound hole of their guitar.
