interesting recipes, almost totally useless to me
I love the recipes in this cookbook--I just wish I could make them without any concerns. You see, this cookbook is written and the recipes tested for a certain type of crockpot--the kind that has the heat surround the crock as opposed to the heat source being entirely underneath the bottom of the crock itself. Unfortunately, those are becoming harder to find, and rarely does a person go out and buy a crockpot after buying the book anyway. That in mind, the adventurous/confident/knowledgeable cook might be able to make most of these recipes work. I did buy it to see what desserts I could make, and after a few feeble attempts, have given up on most of those because I already own two crockpots, and they're both the kind that heat from the bottom. They sound great, but just don't cook right ... I love the recipes in this cookbook--I just wish I could make them without any concerns. That in mind: if you have the right crock pot, it's a very well-written book (for 1994 publishing date), you can easily find certain types of the wide variety of recipes; and either way, gets the creative juices flowing if you are one of those cooks that can whip up something great when you add "a bit of this and a bunch of that."
