I bought this wireless receiver because I was tired of stringing wires across my room from my computer to my stereo. After researching the wireless options, this seemed to be the best device at the best price. I consider myself a bit of a music buff and notice no loss of sound quality compared to the wires I was using. I'm running Windows Vista 32-bit and didn't even install the software and the transmitter and receiver instantly recognized each other and started playing iTunes after plugging them in without any help. I've read that the software was necessary, but I didn't want any more applications running on my computer, and don't see a need for it. The remote is basically useless without the software, but I prefer to control my music directly with iTunes anyway. It still will turn the the device on and off and control the volume, which is all I ever wanted. I'm using the device in a studio apartment and have no issues with interference. I have wireless internet with a Linksys E1000 wireless-N router and don't have any interference issues with either device. I think this is easily worth double the price and highly recommend it. The USB transmitter is slightly bigger than a flash drive and I'll have to be careful not to break it while using the computer on my couch, but no more so than if it were an actual flash drive. The most important thing to say about it is, that it does very good job sending the wireless signal from point A to point B. I'm using it from my computer to stereo sound input from my entertainment system, located about 40 feet apart. The usb transmitter could be half the size.
Works well like a cordless telephone, but for stereo output. On the 2.4ghtz spectrum. If you have a wireless router, depending on the stregnth of your wireless router, you could have minor problems. It was a under 100$ Solution for separating my computer system from my Home Theatre....New House seperate rooms now.
Free wireless music running all over my house with no wires necessary makes an awesome gift. Love it!!!!
