its a good vac in the sense that it does exactly what it says, but its very expensive for the simple canister and an engine with the best filtration system on the market, so great i dont get any soot..etc. in the air and then in my lungs. When i cleaned my stove before the vac I would blow my nose after and it would come out black, thats what clued me into getting a dustless/ash vac. Worth it, i would go for it, only issue is the top filter sometimes pops off and it worries me that this could damage the engine. also when you have to empty this, you must wear a mask, no matter what you do, no matter the size of ash. Big poof. ha. thats all, it was needed for health reasons. the cougar is worth the extra 20 bucks, and if you bargan, like i did, you should be able to get one of these cougar's for under 200 easy. good luckRead full review
No ash clouds appear when using this vacuum. Suction is good. Vacuum is pretty enough to stay out by the hearth which is nice since it is used 4-6 times per week. I do not like how the attachments work. You need to take off the metal nozzle to put on any of the attachments. You must take off the hose to do this. Hose broke when attempting to do this. Loveless was wonderful and is sending me a new hose. They recommend warming the hose before attempting to remove the plastic ends. They really need to redesign the plastic ends and hose attachments. It is a very tight fit to get the plastic ends off.
This is good for small ash and it does have good suction power. The hose will only pick up fine to small ash and will not pick up any real big embers. You do need to dust off the filter from time to time to make it vacuum better. I would work better with a wood stove that had an ash removal system. The newer style hose is more fexible than the older style that I got and I will probably eventually get one so that it can be stored in the can. I give it an overall good rating with the only drawback that it cannot pick up bigger ash.
This product is a useless the power is not up to par, make sure you assembly correctly if not,you will lost suction, i brought this product because people whose gave a review does not telling the true about this unit, even-though i am a consumer gig i still got suck into get one. be aware after you have test it out, and if you going to return it you will pay restock fee for 35%, i really don't recommend this product to any one, and now i just waste $190.00,i've bought vac master from Home depot work twice better, and cost less, you can get 2 of these...it will work great if you have a dust less then a coffee cup, if more you have to clean the out lay filter, and the dust is not come out, you have to use a paint brush to clean it or use house vacuum to suck out the dusts...
The vacuum performed very well. It is not messy because you have a device on top of the canister that allows you to unscrew a cap and lift up and down a lever to clean the ash off the bag before you open up to discard the ash out of the canister, therefore their is no ash mess. It is quiet and powerful than other ash vacuums. The only thing that i personally didn't like about this vacuum is that the metal nozzle has a 45 degree that will clog up if you have clumps in your ash pan. It's great if you have fine ash but if you have clumps it will clog up every time. To solve this they should make the diameter on the nozzle bigger so it will not clog. Other than that it's a great buy.
