With a bit of common sense and careful study, anyone can set up the machine, prewash their fabric, lay it out smooth, make sure the pattern is bigger than the person, and do their own sewing class. The book has special help for fine-tuning fit, working with fabrics like satin and velvet, sewing for kids -- all the way to tailoring that pricey blazer. Yes, it explains hand-stitched buttonholes, machine=made buttonholes, and those fiddly bound buttonholes. There are sections for using a serger, and making curtains -- those fancy floor to ceiling "window treatments" -- all in this book. Real slow fashion, slow and steady. With lots of helpful pictures.
