The attributes of cast iron can't be overstated. I have blue accents in my kitchen, and wanted a 'casserole' type pot, so I ordered this. The price was downright cheap!--and this is a great quality braiser. Lodge makes an excellent alternative to the price and quality of Le Creuset. Searing is easy, cooking in it renders tender meat and great flavors. The enamel coating means you can cook anything in it--unlike raw cast iron, where you have to avoid acidic ingredients like tomatoes. With a little care, this will last for the rest of my life.

Perfect size for cooking small stews, chili, chicken marsala, beef stroganoff, etc... Enamel interior is superior to that of Martha Stewart line. It seems to be extremely well made. Lodge has done a nice job of choosing a manufacturer in China who can produce these at a very high quality, which is what Lodge is known for. I have used mine already and it conducts heat extremely well. You will use a lower setting on your stove or oven to cook with, which I prefer. Hand washing is very easy as it cleans up with no effort at all. Best of all - you can have this pot at a fraction of the cost of the French made enamel cast iron. I use my other Lodge Cast Iron pots and dutch oven as well. It is nice they are offering consumers the choice.
