One of the finest (unfortunately also one of the lastest) Canon film cameras! With almost all the modern features that digital cameras have. The only downside is that it's a bit uncomfortable to use batteries. It is possible to buy separately rechargeable battery packs, but they are not included. Nevertheless, the camera's functionality and quality are excellent!

I researched both digital and film SLR cameras before making this purchase. I considered cost, value, quality, features and both professional and user reviews. I considered what I would be using the camera for as well as my taste and preferences. I used to own a 35mm Rebel 2000 film camera with 2 EF zoom lenses that covered 18-300mm and was always impressed with how great the pictures came out so I'm a fan of Canon 35mm film cameras. So here goes my review. The Canon EOS 1V and EOS 3 film SLRs were too expensive for my taste and were not necessary for my needs. I wanted a durable, full frame camera with all of the important features that would be fun to use and would help me learn the basics of photography. I want to take it camping in the mountains, near the lake and everywhere outdoors. I want to take good portraits, detailed close-up shots, landscapes, architectural and general shots around town. The Canon Elan 7ne is made tough and sealed adequately for all of these uses. From the reviews I read, the Canon Elan 7ne was the best value Canon 35mm film SLR available. I won my used Canon Elan 7ne through an e-bay auction for $172 plus $10 shipping. I bought a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 ii (aka "nifty fifty")lens for $119.95 online. I have a very nice set-up for a little over $300. One of my favorite features is the eye control function. The camera will focus on the autofocus point I am looking at. I didn't believe it would work very well and I was dead wrong. This feature is very smart and convenient. The size and feel of this camera is substantial in your hands, which I like. I don't mind a big camera as long as it feels comfortable in my hands. This camera also had a high volume of 5-star reviews online, which helped me to buy the camera with confidence after reading so many great things about it. I also did the same research on digital cameras and found that they should not be compared to film. The question isn't whether film or digital is better. They both allow the user different opportunities and outcomes. I like them both equally for different reasons. I'm finding it harder to buy a digital camera because I have read so many reviews and change my mind constantly. I like to buy things that will last a long time and that will not restrict my capabilities as I become more advanced. I'm a little concerned about the cost of a digital SLR. I will probably stick with Canon when I make this purchase due to compatibility of lenses, positive experiences with Canon products and the comfort level I have with the controls and layouts. I like the Rebels, the 60d and the 7d. Not sure if i could justify paying the premium for the full frame 5d Mark 2 though. Not even really sure if I could justify buying anything more than the Rebel T1i, which is half the price of the 7d. In closing, always remember that photography is supposed to be personally enjoyable and rewarding. It's not a competition for the best gear. I personally want to take pictures that I will want to look at again and again throughout my life... great memories of people, pets, scenery, interesting things, places and events. I believe that the Canon Elan 7ne will allow me to sit back, open the picture box and feel good about my life. I will also remember the great deal I got on e-bay and that it doesn't have to cost a fortune to enjoy taking great pictures.Read full review
Very versatile with many functions yet easy to learn. Or use in auto or program mode if you wish. And yes, the eye control focus really works. Relatively large. Feels good in the hands. Excellent quality and build. A great film camera!
Camera is amazing, exactly what my gf wanted for Christmas
