This camera takes excellent pictures, but has aged. There is a megapixel war, so this one is on the low end of the count. It was manufactured about 2002. However, the current lenses that Canon manufactures work as long as they are of the "EF" variety. The camera feels solid and takes great pictures in low light situations, excellent for simple 3X5 or 8X10 prints. Mind you the newer camera have reduced noise, but this one was much more inexpensive and met our needs for "experimentation." IT DOES NOT SHOOT MOVIE FILES. Great for those trying to step out of the point and shoot (P&S) camera.
I had a Canon EOS 10D that completely collapsed electronically. I was left with lenses but no camera. This body was just what I needed. Had to buy new batteries (one I got was no good, as were the two I had) and a new chip, but I now have a working camera I can use every day on the job after my office camera was stolen. Still haven't figured out the settings, as there are many choices I haven't faced before and a couple I don't like, but the purchase came with a manual so I should be able to gain ground with time. This was a very economical buy at a time when I was in a tight spot and I'm glad to have it. Thank you.

Great camera. Now that they are old you can get this really awesome camera for very little money. It´s sturdy and much more confortable to use that the old 300/350/400 series. I really love it. The downfall of old age are the 6.3 mp sensor and the 3 AF points but if you just want to use it for recreation you shouldn´t have any problems. This are the beginner cameras I recomend in all my clases. Photography students are able to learn with a dslr camera for very little money. Awesome value for money.
The canon d60 was released in 2002 and retailed close to $1900. Almost 17 years later, it may not have the loaded technology that today’s camera’s have but it still takes awesome pics and you can still get the settings of legends. Old glory is s great start for photography lovers with a budget👍🏾

The D60 is the second DSLR body designed by Canon themselves from the ground up, the first being the D30. The D60 improves on the D30 in two important, for me, areas: a jump from 3MP to 6MP and the ability to adjust in-camera the saturation, sharpness, and contrast image paramaters. This is the second D60 body I've had over the years-I liked paying $26 for this one instead of $2000 for the first. It is solid, utilizing a metal body and the overall build quality is excellent. The size and weight may be a bit much for some, but it does balance and handle well with small and large lenses. Its processor has the capability of fantastic images with even the inexpensive lenses when using the correct in-camera settings. If you are looking for an excellent DSLR body to start with, or for the long haul, this would be one to take a good look at.Read full review
