This socket is too deep for my application. I was not able to remove the element from my camper using this socket. To be fair, my element does sit pretty flush. Because it's so deep, I just can't get a good purchase on the element with this socket, as it slips easily. First I tried the cheaper element wrench (with the screwdriver as a handle) with no success. Then went with this item thinking I needed something more "heavy duty" as the element in my 2001 camper is probably original, so it's a bit rusty. If your element protrudes a little more, and is not rusty, this would probably be a great tool. But then again, you probably wouldn't need something this heavy duty.

The advertisement picture of the socket showed a flat surface face to fit over the flats on the nut of the heating element. This was the reason i purchased it. The socket I received was beveled on the inside edge. The flats on the heating element nut are about an 1/8 of an inch. The bevel on the socket took away a considerable amount of the mating surface making it much more difficult to remove the heating element. I could not remove the element with conventional tools. I had to resort an air operated hammer drill, even then I had to brace my back on a solid surface in order to apply as much pressure possible against the nut. I've made a living with hand tools so I know of which I speak. johcy

First it should sell with its wrench , and that wasn't the case , second it wasn't able to remove my stubborn element either , still slips like the normal $3 socket , I bought a $19 from store as well , now for over $30 cost , the job hasn't done ...Don't waste your money on this socket if your water heater element is stuck toughly ..Find something else or another secured way.

Im a licensed plumber of over 23 years and have broken meny steel cow bell style element wrenches. This one fits perfectly over the elements due to its flat face. And for really stubborn ones I use an impact driver. They always come out. Wish I bought one years ago.
