Call of Duty, easily the best WWII shooter series, has had a console game before, with Finest Hour. Big Red One tops it easily, using a much better story technique, focusing on one group instead of the normal American, British, and Russian ones. Gameplay is very solid, and the controls are excellent. Graphics are pretty good, and the sound is excellent. But this game is very, very short (like 4 hours long), and leaves a lot to be desired. The end cutscene (I won't give away any story) sums up everything the Big Red One did. But you didn't do half of this, and you feel jipped.
My eight year old loves this game. He had Call of Duty I and had played all the levels and begged for this game. I am very disappointed in the foul language (much profanity is used) in this game. Call of Duty I did not have the extent of bad language in it (if any) that is contained in Call of Duty II. I would have thought twice about buying had I known about the language content. The game screens are very lifelike and he (along with my mom) are able to correctly identify the different types (and names) of many military vehicles now. I'd say the game is somewhat educational in that sense and I hear from my son that it is more challenging than Call of Duty I.
excellent graphics, great WW II action scenarios, many different weapons used, and many different things you have to do to complete your mission. Realistic conflicts with excellent battle works. Gotta be quick with your reflexes to get in the first shot!! Drive a tank like the devil himself... I would recommend this game to anyone in a short heartbeat... very fun and this game challenges you through enticing your interests! This game gives you the sense that you wish you never have to quit playing. This game also helps teach some values in common every day life such as the value of teamwork, how to and when to work well with others, keeping your thoughts and wits about yourself so that you do not give up easily, and that great aspect we know as stick-to-itive-ness.
Call of Duty 2 Big Red One is an FPS released for the GameCube. The single-player experience is great and would recommend this to anyone into FPS titles.

This is the first army game I have owned ever, but not the first I have played. The levels are pretty long, and the auto-save feature can be frustrating at times. But the Graphics are sweet. Great historical storyline. 12 action packed levels varying from mostly land to air to sea. One cool thing about this game is your squad actually can be injured, help you,and they actually cause damage to the enemies. Some language but hey what do you expect it's the army! Great game, I plan to buy more Call of Duty games. All in all, it's all I would have expected from a WWII shoot 'em up! A+++++!
