Got the Clover Mini-Iron II a few years ago and it has served well in that time, though the green power indicator light quit within the first year. Got this hot knife attachment to expand the uses of the iron. Used it to cut/melt through some hard thermoplastic, pressing while cutting. After about half an hour of cutting, the shaft of the knife simply snapped! The design or manufacture is flawed. The hole that the blade holder screws into was drilled and tapped much too deep, creating a weak point where all the force bears on 0.8-0.2mm of brass. Also this unnecessarily large hole allows the knife to cool faster while cutting since there is less brass to keep the heat. Unfortunate waste of time and money due to poor design/manufacture, or planned obsolescence.

Item practically melted during first ever usage. It did bend significantly and the blade didn’t get hot enough to melt the plastic I was working on.
