I repair sewing machines and have used one of those pancake compressors for the last 2 years. Every time it came on, I would almost jump out of my chair because it was so loud. It died last month so I thought I would search online for a new one that might be a little quieter. I came across this California Airtools compressor that only had a 1 gallon tank,( 1/2 as big as my old one) but had twice the airflow output and much quieter. The price was even less than the old one. So I thought I would give it a try. Boy was I surprised. It has turned out to be an incredible air compressor. I cannot believe how quiet it runs. It is also very well-built and the output is more than I need. I can't recommend this air compressor enough. I barely hear it when it comes on. You won't be disappointed with this compressor. I have already recommended it to several friends.Read full review

Seriously, The nurses leave me alone except for 3 times a day and I run a couple of airbrushes to keep my mind occupied and have something to do. I've had several air compressors over the years and this is the quietest I have ever owned. The 1 liter tank on it makes it a top pick for my airgun, You don't have the problems you associate with tankless compressors. Yet it is as cheap or cheaper than most tankless compressors. Plus if the life of this compressor is what it claims to be, than it will probably be the last compressor I own in my life. Another plus is that as much air as it holds and the HP & CFM that it produces you can probably run a couple of brad guns, staplers or other tools and at 25 lbs even an old codger like me can lug it around (like outside when I have a good day) without any trouble.Read full review

Great little unit for small jobs. While it is "quieter" than other compressors this size, it still makes a lot of noise. It is very tight, mines been holding pressure for about 3 weeks now with little leak down.

Unit had minor defect caused from shipping which was a bent bracket on the pressure release switch that releases pressure off the compressor head so it can restart without a load on the piston. After determining this problem the unit is a true performer for small brad nailers and staplers. Will even run a finish nailer as long as you allow a small break once in a while so it can catch up. So quiet you can use indoors anywhere without causing a disturbance. Remember its only a one gallon tank so it does not make the best blow off tool but for indoor applications I find it to work great.

Spent my working life time in auto repair , wore out several commercial grade compressors. bought an air-nailer type compressor from Harbor freight , noisy Chinese junk, which they wouldn't take back w/o receipt. I am just blown away by this unit's quiet efficiency . Love the new approach to compressed air, hope it holds up under my light puttering.
