At the height of his career, Conrad is drafted into the military. Devastated, Conrad and his friend Albert (a chemist) cook up a plan to prevent him from being drafted. In a last-ditch effort, Birdie goes on TV and kisses a girl goodbye. Inspired by the real-life events of Elvis Presley, this comedic drama is both fun and heartwarming. Released in 1963 by Columbia Pictures, this classic film has a running time of 112 minutes.

Don't say Bye to "Bye Bye Birdie"
T.V. remake of Bye Bye Birdie. I must say... Vanessa Williams is a vision, her talent truly shines in this film. Her sexy and charming voice and attitude, this role suits her well. Jason Alexander, he has a great voice... I knew it ever since i saw him in the remake of Cinderella. He is great in the Bye Bye Birdie remake as well. His disposition suits the character. My high school had put on a production of this. I must say that this remake does the original justice, I don't think Dick Van Dyke or Chita Rivera, or Janet Leigh would object.T.V. remake of Bye Bye Birdie. I must say... Bye Bye Birdie Remake
I didn't know there had been a remake of this, until I went looking for the old version. Just for fun I purchased them both. I was pleasantly surprised by how well done this was. It took me a second to a) get over no Dick Van Dyke and b) get used to seeing "George" dance (with hair!), but he ended up being very believable. I was very impressed by his talent. I wasn't overly impressed by the singer who played Kim -- she was very talented, but just seemed too old for the role at times. Other than that, I think if you liked the original, you'll like this. As a bonus, this follows the actual Broadway musical much more closely so there are songs that were not included in the older version!I didn't know there had been a remake of this, until I went looking for the old version. Bye Bye Birdie
I have seen the play, Bye Bye Birdie and have enjoyed it. When this movie was advertised on TV several years ago I was very sceptical. I could not imagine "George Castanza" (Jason Alexander's role in "Seinfeld") singing and dancing in a musical. Curiosity got the better of me and I had to watch. This movie has stuck with me ever since. I was completely amazed by the versitility of Jason Alexander. The rest of the cast were very fitting characters to the original play. bye bye birdie
I especially loved this Musical it brings back alot of memories, some good some bad. But I really liked the way it kinda portrayed Elvis when he joined the Army. It has alot of great music and alot of great dance segments. Over all I think it is a great movie.
