Early morning is a good time to buy gas, but only if it's cool outside. The best time to buy gas has nothing to do with gas station owners checking out their competition (since prices are mostly set by corporate offices). When it is cool outside, as it generally is during morning and evening hours, the fuel in underground tanks contracts. If it is warm, the gas expands. When you pump gas, the fuel pump records the volume of gas in its liquid state. But if it is warm out, the liquid state has expanded to a gaseous state, giving you less actual gas per dollar. If it is cool, the gas has contracted, becoming more dense, giving you more per dollar. Simple physics. Pump gas when it is coolest during the day. The mythical "shop owner" looking down the street to see what the competitor is charging has nothing to do with gas prices.Read full review
I really enjoyed the book because it has some everyday ways to save money and just a way to go about things differently in your life to be more efficient. He writes about things that you do every day but don't realize there is a better time, place, and method of doing that particular thing.
I read this book a little at a time. It is not something I want to pick up and read start to finish. It has a lot of very useful tips.
