Burn Notice returns to television with its guns blazing and more explosive action than ever! Jeffery Donovan plays Michael Westen, a scorned spy, whose mission is to find the people who burned him and reclaim the job—and reputation—he deserves. Along with his trigger-happy ex-girlfriend, Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar), and lackadaisical sidekick Sam Axe (Bruce Campbell), Donovan proceeds to find the people who burned him—by any means possible—while helping people along the way. The witty dialogue, “Michael Westen: ‘Not bad for a man in his underwear.’ Sam Axe: ‘You think that's good, you should see me without them!’ Michael: ‘you have unregistered weapons in a stolen car. Fi!’ Fiona: ‘you know you have always had a problem with my work. I have always supported you.’ Michael: ‘I'm helping people, you’re running guns. Big difference!’” Genius narration by Michael Westen, “Michael Westen: [voice-over] My name is Michael Westen. I used to be a spy. Until... voice on phone: [phone rings] We got a burn notice on you. You're blacklisted. Michael Westen: [voice-over] When you're burned, you've got nothing: no cash, no credit, no job history. You're stuck in whatever city they decide to dump you in. Michael Westen: Where am I? Fiona Glenanne: Miami. Michael Westen: [voice-over] You do whatever work comes your way. You rely on anyone who's still talking to you. A trigger-happy ex-girlfriend... Fiona Glenanne: Shall we shoot them? Michael Westen: [voice-over] An old friend who's informing on you to the FBI... Sam Axe: You know spies... bunch of bitchy little girls. Michael Westen: [voice-over] Family too... Sam Axe: [phone rings] Hey, is that your Mom again? Michael Westen: [voice-over] ...if you're desperate. Madeline Westen: Someone needs your help, Michael! Michael Westen: [voice-over] Bottom line? Until you figure out who burned you... you're not going anywhere” And complex storylines are not the only things that draw someone to a show like this. The true-life problems these characters face, the sexual tension between Michael and Fiona, and family dynamic between Michael, his mother Madeline (Sharon Gless) and his brother Nate (Seth Peterson) make a viewer able to relate to each character in their own way. This show is a must see! In its third season, it airs on USA Thursday nights at 9pm est.Read full review
Season two picks up where season one finished, Michael Weston having to unravel the mystery of trying to figure out who burned him and why. Along the way he once again has to rely on his old friend Sam, a semi-retired agent and part time gigalo, and Fiona his on again off again girlfriend to help him work his cases, He helps people who can't go to the police, this years episodes are every bit as good as season one's, there is a mix of action, comedy, and the complex relationship of Michael and Fiona, all the while Michael is trying to figure out how to get back in the spy-game each episode provides a piece to the puzzle on how to accomplish that goal. This show is always fresh, inventive and very entertaining. Randy
I love this show! All of the actors are perfect for their parts. I think the writers need to work on Bruce Campbell's character more. He can still be the funny one and be more serious more often. We've seen Michael's family and some of Fiona's but nothing of Sam's. I love that Gabrielle Anwar isn't just "the girl." She's smart and can hold her own and she's totally believable because of the Irish connection. Maybe her accent could be used more to remind us that being IRA is why she knows how to do all this stuff. Jeffrey Donovan it totally perfect in this part. It's good to remind us that he's been burned, but (and maybe this is just me) I've lost the thread of people in the "covert intelligence" agency who burned him (or why they did it) and those who are trying to help him. Some of those need to be recurring/consistent characters.Read full review
This series is addictive, causing me to go to bed late or put off household duties like no other show. Bruce Campbell is a freakin' hoot and so is Sharon Gless. The characters of Michael and Fiona are revealing little by little just how messed up they really are and why they're probably not meant for each other but...who in the world would they be better off with??? My gripes that Michael seems a bit skinny to pack the punch he seems to have in any hand-to-hand stuff and that the team gives back all the money people try to pay them and yet still seem to have the resources to pay their bills and finance their operations are very trivial next to my enjoyment of this very guilty pleasure of a series. This is Jim Rockford crossed with James Bond, all set in the 21st century. Slick, exciting, fast-paced and satisfying, the continuing storylines aren't forced and intrusive. They don't "drive" the episode...they just trot alongside it! Enjoy!Read full review
Great plots, a little action, and some suspense leads to a show you can't help but get hooked on. The characters are very appealing, yet human, and are great actors, each playing his or her roll to a tee. With many shows after a few episodes you sort of get it, but with Burn Notice each show is so unique you never tire of watching. I highly recommend you watch and begin with Season 1 because there is a progression to the character's lives that walks you from one episode to the next. It is my favorite show and probably will be for some time to come. The question below asks, "Would you Recommend to a Friend? I already have and he loved it too and couldn't get enough of it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. - Will
