This book is a very scholarly work, primarily about Grizzly Bears and Black Bears in North America. The author, Steven Herrero, has updated a 1980s edition with new research and data as recent as 2002. Every aspect about bears is covered in this fully footnoted book. He raises the question, "Can we have a Wild America for the future that still includes deadly bears like the Grizzly?" (Black Bears can turn deadly also). It is a thought-provoking book and covers a broad range of bear management issues.
