A nice value oriented alternative to LGB metal wheel sets. Though I prefer the LGB wheel sets I do not need them on train cars that I run occasionally. So I will continue to use LGB for my frequently used rolling stock, but for the other half of my LGB rolling stock fleet I am changing out the plastic wheel sets for these Bachmann metal wheel sets because of the quality and the value oriented price.

This is a good product to retrofit older 45 mm gage rolling stock. They wear prototypically when used (they get a good polish) and lower the center of gravity on your cars. They do seem to come with a thin oily coating that should be wiped off before use. Highly recommend the product and shop around as it's wise to factor in the cost with the cost of any used car with OEM plastic wheels you purchase.

These wheels and axles provide a economical method of providing weight and reduced rolling friction for my garden railroad. I have replaced all the wheels with metal wheelsets to reduce crud buildup as the equipment traverses my outdoor layout. I could have used ball bearing equipped wheels at several times the cost with minimal additional benefit , but as I said this is more cost effective.

The metal wheels add extra weight and make for smoother running cars. Some cars have plastic wheels which contribute to Wobbly Wagon syndrome....passenger cars wobble way too much.

These wheels are required for running in Arizona.Plastic doesn't hold up in the summer. The rail gets hot enough to cause flat spots on plastic in 100 + temps. The wheels add additional weight to the cars where it helps, down low fore more stability Look forward to purchase more in the future.
