I actually bought these because I expected them to be very good after reading the many reviews available on line. I had heard 695’s at a store and was very impressed. These are a step up with the nautilus tweeter so I assumed correctly they were indeed worth the cost difference. If you use decent electronics you will be shocked by these speakers. You need stands to make them work, I found very nice ones on E-Bay for less than $50.00. I am using a Denon Tuner that was laying around. I am using a Harmon Kardon 3385 Receiver. Great amp but the receiver’s tuner is not a match for the Denon. It sounds flat and lifeless, but the amp is very capable and the preamp is fine. The tuner in the 3385 sounded OK with lesser speakers. They are outstanding even without a subwoofer, which I thought would be needed. The sound is truly addictive, you just want to listen to stuff all day. The build quality is amazing. Speaker placement is very critical, but you will have fun tweaking too your preference. The imaging and accuracy of these are very very much worth the 1K. And they are fun just to look at no Less!!! Leave the grill cloths off for the best sound. Get them off the back wall so they can breadth. Angle in until the imaging works for you. Stay away from the side walls as well.Read full review
For bookshelf speakers, these will simply blow your mind. These small units product amazing bass and sound stage beyond what you ever expect as you're taking them out of the box. These are a significant step up from the introduction to the cm line the CM1s, these take it to the next level. I would highly recommend for anyone considering buying the CM1s to invest a couple more dollars and purchase the CM5s. They will provide you with years of listening enjoyement. These can handle a receiver with 120 watts RMS and I would recommend at least a receiver with 100 watts because they do have a low sensitivity rating.
I'm super happy with these speakers - I'm a musician so sound is important. These speakers sound is so clear. I admit I don't listen to anything too crazy (heave metal fans - probably look somewhere else). But, anything from classical music, including solo and orchestra, Jazz and also pop, rock, etc.
