Satisfied with optics and mechanical build, but it is MUCH larger than my other DIN objectives for 160mm tubes.
It's very well-made, and I like the view through it, and it is as sharp as I expected, but for a DIN / 160mm objective, it's about 30% larger in length and width than both my current Swift, and Bausch & Lomb, objectives. I wanted to be able to turn my turret from 10x to 20x before jumping to 40x, when tracking moving protists, but I have to crank the tube up a full centimeter before I can even think about turning the turret or I'll destroy the slide. This wastes time and I lose sight of the swimming beast. Got a 5-hole turret ? Good choice.
Mine is 65% planar. Gives very good color in this space. Good enough contrast. I hunt samples and this is adequate to say the least for filling in the 10x to 40x range. 200x effective is just right now and then. For $20 ??? You betcha !! DIN 160 to a tee.

Great lens for the price.
A plan achromatic would have been nicer, but this one is a good compromise. Also, 20x shows you more than 10x. It's a great lens for protozoa, whereas 40x is meant for a much smaller area of interest.
