These are great units, especially if you have a asthma or a stench you're trying to remove. I've owned these units for over ten years and while they are maintenance nightmares the results they produce outweigh the time you spend on maintenance. They advertise you just clean the ozone plates and reuse them, but that is not the case, I've never been able to clean one and re-use it. I just keep buying new plates. The plates last for about two months but there dust filter is easily cleaned and re-usable. I1've had to have my units refurbished two or three times over the course of 10 years and that's $175 a pop. So, don't think that buying one will last forever because it won't. Power wise count on $8 a month, which to me is worth it to breathe clean fresh dust-free air.
I bought this product for $49.99 (used)for trial but it is still working well. I placed it in my kitchen so I could get rid of all the bad odors after cooking and it really eliminates this odors in a short while and you can feel your living in a healthy environment. I just leave it running 24 hours a day and in the afternoon when I arrive from work, my apartment smells fresh. Just wondering where that fresh scent comes from. This is a great product. I would by a brand new one if this unit stop working.
The Ecoquest line of products are made extremely well...They are tough and durable, and will last a very very long time as long as you maintain the unit properly. You must make sure that you clean the ceramic plates, and clean the pre filter on the back every 30-60 days for maximum efficiency. I have owned multiple units, and have never been disappointed. These work extremely well, especially in homes with multiple pets or odor problems from musty bathrooms or mold. I have had people comment to me on the fresh smell of the aire in my home, and I have 2 cats and 2 dogs. You literally can not tell I own pets when you are in my house. I recommend this product to anyone who simply wants to breath in fresher cleaner air in their homes or workspaces. Although it was a bit pricey, even on Ebay, this compact well made unit has been working quite well for several weeks now, especially with the pleated paper filter. I use it mostly in the spare/computer room that also has the Cat's litter pan in it. This room was always a "cat created dust bowl". Not any more. If you're handy you can avoid their pricey replacement filters and make your own from larger readily available filters at Home Depot or Lowes.
Next time do not ship the glass inserts inside the unit. They must be packaged on their own. One glass insert was broken, but I had an extra one. Once the new insert was in, she was working great.
