I use to be strictly into sampling my own sounds/patches then migrated to analog with all knobs having only one function. I've been looking for a used E-MU or Akai sampler then I saw this new release from Akai. Easiest sampler to record with and program, sounds great!

Buying an expensive microphone or instrument is less important than the songwriters tool set-up as this SD recorder, a Korg micro-sampler, an Akai MX16 channel mixer, A well buffered space and microphone positioning. Its amazing what can be done with this small set-up and a few SD,s.

First you have to format the SD card to be able to use. Thought you could just put on any laptop operating system through the USB to put in samples through the downloaded app. You may need an apple laptop to format the SD card.

If you go to the Akai forums you will see the complaints against this sampler and most importantly that it has terrible lag in the midi response. Shame as it is a great looking device however if you don't need midi then this is a great lil deal
