This is the textbook I used my first ten years of teaching 7th grade world history. After a change in assignments I found myself back to teaching one section of world history and was appalled at the text currently being used. I've been searching for my own set of Across the Centuries to keep in my class because I believe it's superior to any textbooks currently available. Having said that, it's not perfect, it's got some odd emphasis at times but is overall a superior guide to teaching this time period (A.D. 476 to 1789). As any teacher will tell you a textbook is only one aspect of the lesson, but if you consider the book is the lifeline for some students or the foundation which the lesson is set on, then this text's depth and breadth is expansive enough to cover more than just the bare minimum.Read full review
I needed this book to help my daughter with a new teaching assignment. Since I taught from this text and her school was still using it, it was helpful to obtain the book to help out planning her lessons

Reason for purchase was to prevent my kids from having to haul a bunch of school books back and forth to school. It's a health factor as well as an educational one. By having their books on hand at home, they never have the problem of leaving their books at school. It's a win- win. And by not having them carrying them in their back packs it helps prevent injury, especially as most kids and in fact most adults carry their back -pack on one shoulder. It's something I've done for a few years at this point and will continue as my kids progress through school. It can be a little expensive but the cost well and truly covers a few nightmare homework nights and or a few doctors co-pays. Enough said. I'm very happy with the purchases I've made over the years, it's save me more time and energy than if I hadn't done it.Read full review
I bought this book as a source to a school paper, as a check up on some things I've heard. Reading through a textbook that is being used across america, I have found the rumor to be correct. The text does endorse Islam.
this book is the exact duplicate of the book issued by our local school district. It was necessary to get a second copy to assure it was at home when needed for reference.
