I'd been having problems with a prior digital lock that only used one single 9 volt battery. In many cases, you'd key the combination, and it would click, but wouldn't disengage the locking mechanism. This has 2 9 volt battery's and is much more positive with the disengagement. Installation was easy as the lock was a direct replacement for the existing. The install took about 10 minutes, not counting the 10 minutes to take off the inner door panel. Changing the combination was also very easy, and since changing haven't had any problems where the safe didn't open the first time I tried. Very important if I need to get in quickly. I don't know how long the batteries will last, but normally change every 6 mos just to be on the safe side.

I lucked out; my original ESL-10 lock that came with my AmSec safe finally wore out after 12 years. If I wanted the safe to open, I had to install two brand new 9V batteries just to open it once. I e-mailed AmSec's CS, and the lady informed me that I probably only had to replace the lock itself; that after a while, some of them just lose their ability to old a charge. Ordered this one in the brass-plated steel, it came quickly, batteries installed. When I unplugged the old lock, I had to replace the locking ring with this new one, unplugged the cable, plugged it into the new lock, and it works perfectly. I didn't have to take the door liner off, but if the actual locking mechanism goes one day, at least I have it now. These are fantastic locks. Worth every penny.

. I replaced 4 safe locks with this lock. I had S&G and LA-Guard, S&G is not as bad as LA-Guard. I had a LA-Guard on one of my safe's and had to have it drilled. The safe was not that old and the pivot pin just wore out. The Amesc doesn't use a pivot type lock. The locking device moves up and down. The LA-Guard pivots on a cheap pin that wares out and the lock jams up. I just looked at safes at Costco and all of them have the cheap LA-Guard locks on them .. If anyone buys one I would suggest that the very first thing that they do is replace it with one of these. Darold

Great product and is installed in my safe which was very easy. Shipping was a little slow due to the fact of the Covid situation I presume. It was exactly as described. YouTube is the best resource for installation of lock mechanism. Works like a dream.
