Synopsis
Every culture has a creation myth, and skateboarding is no different. The Ollie forged a new identity for skateboarding after its invention in the 1970s, and it lies at the root of nearly every significant move in street skating today. This groundbreaking no-handed aerial has also affected the evolution of surfing and snowboarding, and has left a permanent impression upon popular culture and language. This, then, is the story of the Ollie, the history and technology that set the stage for its creation, the pioneers who made it happen, and the skaters who used it to start a revolution.

    A must read.

I waited quite a while before I bought this. I didn’t think there could be much to write about the Ollie but I was definitely wrong. This has amazing history and has me feeling very nostalgic about a decade I wasn’t even born in. I definitely recommend this book. Awesome pictures and very compelling.

  • Skaters need this on their bookshelves

if this is volume one, I cant wait to see the rest. this is one of , if not the best comprehensive history on skateboarding I have ever read. it weighs 5 lbs and is shy of 1000 pages if you are a diehard skater, you need this, along with Disposable, another skateboard bible.

  • Fantastic Book!

It’s everything you ever wanted to know about 70’s skateboarding and then some. It recognizes more about 70’s skateboarding than most people ever heard of. If you have a skateboard or surfing friend, this would make a great gift.

  • Belongs on every skateboarder's book shelf.

Detailed account of the progression of skateboarding over the 1970's, with a focus on the invention of skateboarding's most important trick, the Ollie. Whether you're a flat ground flip tricker, a vert ripper, or something in between, if you want to know some skateboard history, this book is for you.
