"A Concise Introduction to Logic" by Patrick J. Hurley is a great book on logic if you are new to subject or it can be a great refresher to reinforce your knowledge on the topic. When I was new to the subject, I first read Hurley's 5th edition of the same text several years ago and wanted to read it again. I decided on a newer edition (10th) it is up to date with revisions and additional information to assist you in some of the more difficult topics. The CD is very helpful. It is not design to be a complete chapter by chapter account. It is for you to be introduced to the chapter material which I found to be a great help also.
I purchased this text last month and was impressed with the color coded chapter outline and answers in the back of the book. The subject sequence was very easy to follow and helped in understanding a very complex subject. Text was a recommended text for critical thinking course. Outlined very concise and clear methods.
This is required reading in the Los Angeles community college district. The 11th edition is over $100.00 new and $60.00 used. This is a great alternative at just the fraction of the cost. And it is very much the same as the new edition.
This book is amazing, it makes a confusing subject as philosophy seem so easy. The text breaks everything down and has numerous examples and exercises to assist in the learning aspect. Wonderful!
It got to me just in time to use for my Philosophy class last week, which is a really good thing. :)
