This is probably one of the best hockey books written. It reads more like a history of the NHL than a career look-back. The respect for the forebearers is immense. Gretzky comes across quite humble, which he obviously tended to purposely. He doesn't get into the Oilers until three-quarters through. Anyone close to the game will recognize some of his stories, but a reader without hockey background may not be able to follow the transition from one to another. But the authors steer away from dirt and speculation, so for those looking for gossip there isn't too much here.
