I love the style! Well made! Quality materials! It is shorter than usual for a regular cane, they do call it a shillelagh after all. There was some minor flash left on it, and a small gap here and there around the head. I modified mine into a cane by turning a piece of some cured white oak I had close to cane size, and then turning one end to fit modern cane stoppers. I then core drilled it and about 4" of the shillelagh, and fit a piece of 3/8" ss 10k tubing through the cores with some 2 part epoxy. I then carved, torch hardened, and seal with a stain/poly mix. Fit well. Now it's my everyday cane. It does get some looks.

Nicely balanced and fun to handle. Up close you can surely tell that it's not actually wood, but It looks real enough for stage, costume, etc. Wrap your fingers around the thorns for a solid purchase on the stick. If you find that one of the thorns is digging into your hand, it can be quickly shaved down with a Dremel making the grip easily customizable. This baby has some weight to it. Swinging it around at home might help you to get your strength back if life under pandemic warnings has caused you to stop exercising. Be careful sparring with friends, you don't want to actually hit somebody with it (ouch).

Beautifully made, strong and sturdy--much better and heavier than I expected. I'd love to have one exactly like it that's a couple of inches taller so it can be used as a cane. Highly recommend!
