Amongst fountain pen aficionados and collectors, Jinhao pens frequently get a bad rap. I, on the other hand, have accumulated a respectable assortment of Jinhao pens and a few other makers although I don't consider myself a collector. I have always been very impressed with the quality and performance of my inexpensive Chinese imports. I don't know if there are better performing nibs out there. I know there are far more expensive (pricey) nibs but my Jinhao pens and nibs write very well. All the ones I have are made of stainless steel (very mild response to magnets - maybe not surgical quality S/S but resist rust/oxidation) often come gold plated 18K, some white, some gold, some both) and have an iridium-type very hard metal tip. Most nibs described as having iridium tips are not made with iridium as it is a very, very hard and more expensive metal (considering how little the tips are, it's hard to use that as justification for the more exorbitantly priced nibs.)Read full review

These nibs are incredibly smooth writing. I forgot to pre-clean these nibs and you wouldn't have known it. They were smooth gliding, non-skipping from the get go. Not the best flexibility for typical calligraphy writing but are so easy to write with, I've changed my style so I can use these for art work. These would work very well for drawing/colouring as well
