I've had this (Rosewill 5 tray dehydrator) for three months now. It has had the fan just barely ticking on the housing since I first got it, but not to the point where I was worried about it. But the heating element started overheating. It somewhat scorched some dehydrated carrots. The real problem is that because of the excess temperature, on the very next load (of greens) the trays cracked and small pieces broke off because of the excess heat. The trays are destroyed and I had to throw the dehydrated greens (beet leafs & stems) away instead of vacuum sealing them in a half gallon jar, for fear that some of the sharp plastic shards were in the greens. I had another brand dehydrator (Gourmet Elite) that only had just an on/off switch and no thermostat dial that dehydrated at a slightly higher temperature than my Nutrichefs. It did the the same thing after a couple of years use. It's now August 2nd and the return window on this Rosewill unit closed July 5th. I'm not happy at all. I also have had three Nutrichef PKFD12s for a couple of years that I've never had a bit of problem with.Read full review

Purchased this unit to use as a 3-D printer filament dehydrator. For those using it as a food dehydrator, you may want to note that the actual temperature in the unit does not actually reach the level indicated on the dial. With setting at max temp of 70C, it actually only achieves 65C. However, this is sufficient for my usage as the max temp required is 65C. Other than that, it works well for my purposes for far less than the cost of a unit purpose built as a filament dehydrator, so overall very satisfied.

Bigger then I expected.. First time I used it, I set it for 149 degrees, and I doubt it got over 130 degrees. The fan does make a little noise but you do get used to it. I dehydrated three bananas in about thirty hours. Humidly here (desert environment) was about 30 percent. Clear trays were helpful. Instructions say you must use all trays even if they are empty. Build quality is good. Overall, we are satisfied. Will be using this fall to do some apples and other stuff. Enjoy!
