Great for Transferring DVR Recordings or Live TV to the Computer
This product is inexpensive and works well for DVR transfers, however, the instructions are overly simplistic. The capture software is the key ingredient to success. You must download the free Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) Studio product and set it up properly. Select the USB Capture device for the Video and Audio sources; match the Canvas resolution to the Output resolution (I chose 1280X720); center the image in the preview window; verify with the Studio View and adjust as necessary in the preview window. Change the recording format to MP4 (my choice) and choose the recording quality (I chose Indistinguishable Quality). Windows appears to have some issue with the drivers, but the device works anyway. I wanted to connect a mirrorless camera to my wife's conferencing laptop, but her company prevents the installation of software - so we couldn't use the Canon Webcam Utility. High marks at a low price
This capture device is the easiest I've worked with, on a scale from the Dazzle to the Hauppauge HD PVR Rocket. It also performs better than the latter device, which costs 10 times the price, in at least one respect: It has no problem with 1080p video from my MiSTer FPGA device. I like this thing so much, I'm about to buy another one as a backup before everyone else discovers it and drives the price higher.This capture device is the easiest I've worked with, on a scale from the Dazzle to the Hauppauge HD PVR Rocket. Great for the price!
First note, 4K, when written, only means it can accept a 4K INPUT, but the computer can’t see a 4k signal. I wasn’t even getting 1080, although I suspect that’s what “high” resolution means (I’m getting 1120x700 somehow).
