    sleeping pill

    I purchased the series as my sleeping pill. With the music, soft voices and flashing pictures it puts me rigs in the land of nod. That is not to say that the documentary isn't great, it is when i can stay awake.

    A lesson for high school American history

    The film goes into depth as to the causes of the starting. The songs from that era were great. The narration of the letter from the union officer accompanied by the haunting music , brought me to tears. The film is very heart wrinching

    For North America this was the "Great War"

    Being from eastern U.S. the pictures and most of the names were quite nostalgic and familiar and I felt very ashamed of how many lives were not only lost but families were destroyed, never to rise again.

    Excellent overview of the Civil War and its impact

    Entertaining is a bit misleading; this is highly informative and will give you a good basis for understanding what took place and how it impacted this country. There is some humor throughout the series, but there is a lot of grim reality as to the "terrribleness" of war as well.

    Tremendous amount of detail. Describes in depth the Generals, the battlefields, and the combatants. The anguish of the families, the causes of the war, the POW's, the losses and the victories. The best documentary I've ever seen on the subject.
